Kiwanis Chateau, located next door to Portage Place and the YM/YWCA, is a non-profit residential complex sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg. Many of the rights and privileges associated with home ownership, excluding assuming the financial burden of purchasing a home outright, are available to residents of the Chateau via the lifetime lease concept. An entrance fee guarantees your right to live in your apartment home for the rest of your life. The entrance fee is deposited in a Kiwanis Chateau trust fund and is refundable upon the termination of your lease. A monthly rental payment covers operating costs and debt service payments. The monthly rental payments are subject to both increases and decreases as may be necessary to cover changes in operating costs. You may choose to decorate your home to suit your personal tastes and you also have the opportunity to express your views regarding the many recreational and social programs through the Residents Advisory Council.
